Best Laid Plans...

Today's workout plan: wake up at 5 a.m. to go to Body Pump at the gym, followed by a few easy miles on the treadmill.  I would leave the gym sweaty and tired, but energized, renewed, and ready to tackle another day of mothering!

What actually happened: Tess threw up in the middle of the night, which led to laundry, Tyler rocking Tess for awhile, her loudly refusing to sleep in her crib, and eventually "sleeping" with her inbetween us in our bed.  I stumbled (inwardly cursing) out of bed at 7:15 a.m.  As rough a night as it was, it was very sweet laying in bed with Tess, and feeling her stroke my face and run her little fingers through my hair over and over.
Sidenote: Tess only puked once, and appears to be hale and healthy.  Phew!

Luckily, Maia is an excellent babysitter, so I was able to go running this afternoon while Tess napped.  I left the house at 12:45 p.m.  79 degrees.  HOT.  For running, anyway.  But I LOVE running during the day, in the glorious sunshine!

A few pics from my 5.25-mile run:

The above and below pictures are of the same road, taken from opposite directions.  It's basically a big "V" that I get to run down and up every time I go for a run outside.  But I love hills (seriously), and this route has street lights and sidewalks, so it's where I choose to run 99.99% of the time (especially in the early-morning hours which is when 99.99% of my runs occur).

After I got home, it was time to do some planking.  Maia did most of one with me, and then she took a bunch of unflattering, close-up pictures of my super sweaty self.  Teenagers are fun.  :)

Laying with my trusty, hard-working, funky tan-lined legs up against the wall, which feels really good after running and helps prevent lactic acid build-up (I think) in your legs.

I am so grateful for running.  For being able to run.  For how it makes me feel: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually - everything!

And now I need to figure out what to make for dinner...I wish I had a personal chef.  Anyone interested?  I will pay you in generous compliments, gaze at you adoringly while you cook for me, rave about you to anyone that will listen, and even let you eat with us.  Comment below if interested.
